The drive from the Bay through the Santa Cruz mountains was worth the trek! Henry Cowell State Park has the most unique Redwood Trees, and a beautiful glowing field, that set the perfect backdrop for Amanda and Drew’s engagement session!
About the Couple
They first met at a conference down in Long Beach, and after a quick lunch date in SoCal, they realized that they lived close to one another up in the Bay, and wanted to try to make things work out! After about a year, and a rocky start due to their lives being polar opposites, they were able to mesh their opposite personalities together, realizing they were stronger together than apart! Talk about meant to be!
Amanda and Drew are so fun and giggly, and just such a down to earth couple! These two love adventures together, including hiking, but overall they love one another’s company, and it shows!! Their session was one of the most joyfully passionate sessions I have ever photographed!! Together, they have settled down in Los Gatos, with their "mini farm" of chickens and a garden!
Seven years together had passed, and the topic of getting engaged had been on the table, but Drew convinced Amanda that it probably wouldn't be for another year, since he wanted to get a little further in writing his book before they took those next steps. However, when Christmas Eve rolled around, Drew was ready to surprise Amanda with a family ring on her favorite holiday! So sweet!
Christmas Eve morning, it was just the two of them, making breakfast in their robes, and having an easy going relaxing morning! Drew was acting weird, and Amanda couldn't figure out why. He wanted to get the ring out of his jacket so he could have it close by for when he was ready to pop the question, but Amanda had her eyes on him. When he went to try to get the ring, Amanda wouldn't stop asking what he was doing, why he was acting weird, what was in his jacket that he needed?!? She's very persistent ;p Drew's "after breakfast" plan got moved up, as he knew this was the moment he was going to ask Amanda to marry him!
When Drew got down on one knee, Amanda's first reaction was NO! She couldn't believe it! Together, they spent the rest of the day, popping champagne and reminiscing in their excitement and love. The next day was Christmas, and they got to celebrate with the family on Amanda's favorite holiday! Followed by New Year's Eve where they got to share the news and celebrate with their friends! It was perfect end to the year, and start to a new one!
Amanda and Drew, thank you for the fun conversations, patience with people walking by, and all around amazing evening together! You two took what could have been an awkward situation (onlookers and strangers passing through), and turned it into pure magic! I also loved the props you brought. The record with your wedding date that you hand painted on, the blanket, and the designed leather jacket, personalized your session to the two of you and your story! I am definitely looking forward to April!!!
